What are you thinking of buying?

(Anonymous) 2023-06-24 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I had an instant pot. My sister took it months ago and at this point I've given up on it. So, I am thinking of getting a new one. Saw walmart has a 3-in-1 that just does pressure cooking, slow cooking, and sauteing for $69 (nice). So, I might save $30 and get that one since it is the only functions I ever actually used.

I've never had an instant pot, but a slow cooker is amazing. It can make such amazing food.

Seconded. I love being able to have meals that simmered for hours and don't need me to babysit them in the kitchen. At this point I have a crock-pot brisket recipe that saves me money on b.b.q. on the regular, and several soups that everyone looks forward to. It's great.

I love my slow cooker so much. I eat slow cooked steel cut oats almost every morning. And being able to put dinner on in the morning and then I don't have to do anything after work? Love. It.

It's not really buying a physical thing, but our house has been college chic since we bought it. Both of us are gamer/nerds and our decorating sense runs to "does it function?" But my wife has started wondering when we become real adults, with art on the walls and shit. So I looked into interior designers. I was happily surprised that we don't have to be fuck-off rich to hire one. I think we'll do just the kitchen and dining room to start off with. See how we like it.

Not OP

I love this for you guys! I'm no interior designer myself, but I love it when people can support the arts in different ways and create a living space that gives them happiness and peace (or whatever they're looking for)!

Please update us on the progress!

Airfryer

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2023-06-25 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking of buying an air fryer. I eat french fries at least once a week. And not that is it summer starting the over heats up the whole kitchen. But I am a bit worried I won't use it enough.

Fries once a week for how many weeks pays for it how quickly? Also allows for your perfect fries every time :)

Do you have an air fryer? Can you get the fries super crispy? I always overcook my fries to they are super crunchy.

I don't have an airfryer, but I did used to be a short order cook. The secret to crunchy fries is to double cook them. My understanding from listening to people who do have air fryers is that this is the only way to get super crispy fries from the air fryer. What counts as 'double cooking' in an airfryer I'm not sure.

I have an air fryer. I don't use it as often as I should. HOWEVER. Perfectly crispy and cooked anything. Family that uses the air fryer gets chicken on point. I think I'll try to make empanadas and brussel sprouts in it. I usually get some dumplings and cook them in there. It's been pretty good and much better than frying.

Maybe a new couch. Inherited my old one and by now it's disgusting.

A rope kit for getting started in shibari. I'm trying not to pull the trigger since I do need to save for my trip to Europe, but goddamn, that thing is using a bullhorn to call my name.

Had to buy a replacement controller for PC gaming after the usb dongle on mine somehow got CRUNCHED... right when I was downloading a bunch of steam demos. So... all the actual *games* I was thinking about have been backburnered.

Much more boring purchase planning... I want to buy some good cheese for sandwiches, local dairy if possible, and some cashew butter for very different sandwiches.
