Compared to what "over-tight" means in women's clothing, I really don't think so.

The standard suit for the longest time was trying to make businessmen look like interchangeable little black rectangles. And now we've actually got people appreciating that there's a dude with a nice looking body in there a little, and the style is derogatorily characterized as "over-tight."

That dude looks like he is wearing something a size too small after putting on weight, not like hey nice bod in there. Suits that actually fit without seeming like they are busting at the seams or popping off buttons would flatter his bod a lot better.

DA I'll be perf honest, my extremely shallow opinion is that half the draw of the Craig Bonds is staring unblinkingly and waiting for seams to rip, buttons to pop. Esp for Craig, his Bond gives off that feral beast just barely constrained by thin layer of civility, and uh, you know, I dig that vibe lmao.

NA - I agree! On some other Bond I would probably wish the suits were looser, but the tight suits work extremely well for Craig's Bond, IMO. For one, because of him giving off that untamed, brutish animal vibe and the suits leaning into that. And I suspect another aspect of it is that a slightly too-small suit makes him look bigger. It gives the eye a bunch of cues that his body is TOO BIG, while also emphasizing the solidity of his physique, thereby creating a sort of misdirection that he's physically bigger than he actually is. Which I'm sure is a very deliberate bit of optical trickery on the part of the wardrobe team, given that Craig is on the small side as far as Bond actors go.

There's a difference between "tailored" and "over tight". A well-tailored suit isn't supposed to have wrinkles and folds across the front when buttoned where the cloth is being pulled too taut over the man's body.

You're right about tailored suits, but Daniel Craig is not a good example of what a properly tailored suit on a man with a nice body looks like.

AYRT

You know, everyone who responded to me made good points. What I thought I was disagreeing with actually wasn't what people were saying, and when it was clarified, I got it.
