(Anonymous) 2023-06-25 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)I'm not telling other people how to relax, but in my friends circle, joking that consists of lying with a straight face and pretending it's everyone else's job to figure out what isn't bullshit is a rather serious boundary violation. There's too many abuse histories in our direct experience for people to find that funny.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-26 04:41 am (UTC)(link)I'm not telling anyone else what to say or how to tag their posts. What I'm saying is that within my group, this kind of joking is not done or tolerated. At all. And it might be slightly permissible with something like an 'unreality' tag and related discussion. So when someone here goes "I can't believe anyone actually benefits from this in any sense, they must be lying," I find that rather pushy of them.
I realize fandom has had to cope with far too many people who say "I need" and what they mean is "I will pressure everyone else to do," and I don't support that in the slightest. People certainly should own how they react to the world.
But I'm expecting some of the people reading fandom secrets to consider "does an unreality tag serve a useful purpose?" a worthwhile question. And I'd say that the sensation of "why do I remember things differently than someone I interact with regularly and trust?" is very tied in with what previous experiences of that have been like. Really though, the internet is plenty big enough for people to make jokes that my friends wouldn't find funny, and me to not reblog those for that reason. There's a lot of other stuff here that we love.
