I'm disabled and I hate most post-apocalyptic stories, but that's because they're so often thinly disguised right-wing (or full fascist) fantasies about how the STRONG MEN SURVIVE with their MUSCLES and GUNS and sometimes CARS (and also no women have hair on their legs or armpits) and that's so fucking dumb and offensive. But there are certainly post-apocalyptic stories that focus on the ways people actually did (and do) survive under such conditions - working in communities - and those can be really interesting.
