Eh. While I don't think people are liking what they like as a fuck-you to any particular group (excepting the horrible eugenicists that actually do like to imagine scenarios where pharmaceuticals are unavailable and everyone who needs medical support that can't be DIYed will just die ... but I really don't think they're posting on fandomsecrets), I'm really not a fan of post-apocalyptic fic, either. My impression is that it used to be just the religious right that fantasized about the world being about to end and about everyone who didn't listen to them being So Screwed and So Sorry while they were obviously vindicated. And now a lot of this fictional Collapse feels like the climate change riff on End Times.

And personally, I don't pay anyone to help me send my thoughts to live in a wasteland without electricity and heating when I could be reading anything! And I think we can topple capitalism and keep the ability to machine-knit socks. No one pays rent =/= society must be gone.
