I honestly have no idea what this secret is trying to say or what point it's trying to make

I'm going to go out on a limb here:

OP posted the straight flag vs the straight pride flag on Hoyoverse for whatever reason. Braindead children on the website assumed they were trying to say that straight people should be a part of the LGBTQ community and harassed them for it.

I'm probably completely wrong because I also have no clue what any of these words mean.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be understandable for people to reply negatively to the straight pride flag, though obviously not to the point of harassment. That wouldn’t make some braindead or necessarily children.

But if it was just the straight flag they took issue with, or that they made such a leap that that means OP was trying to say straight people should be part of the LGBTQA+, then yeah that would be pretty dumb.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
They a part of LGBTQ. Ace and straight trans for one.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-03 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
You’re right.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually go on Hoyolab for guides sometimes. The site censors liberally. I think OP means that they got replies that contain a lot of censored words and pretended to be a kid in comments to get the other people banned because they don't want actual kids seeing these replies? The font is hard to read tbh.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly I'm kind of relieved bc I feel like it would probably be super wanky if we knew what OP was trying to say

But as it stands, literally no idea

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I ain't reading all that. I'm happy for u tho. Or sorry that happened.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
god I wish that was me

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
What

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Listen, this secret confuses me in 99 levels and I am not sure what’s the point you are trying to make. I am also an older than average Genshin fan (hater-fan? Fan-hater?) and have a hard time navigating its fandom, for what it’s worth. But what I find funny is that apparently pride flags and sexuality became a reason for wank in Hoyoverse - as it always is in “broad” Genshin communities - and… it’s extremely funny to me because I don’t interact with Genshin fandom largely (only on tumblr and adult-only “safe spaces”) but during the past month I was making the random-est of “happy pride!” fandom posts - Genshin included, such as “happy pride to Kaveh the architect who doesn’t want anyone to know he lives in another guy’s home with a living room, a study room and two closed doors, and is fully aware this means they either only poop and eat outside or share a bed! Your closet is invisible and that’s valid!” and “happy pride to whoever at Hoyoverse allowed me to build a home full of Sakura trees for my ships!” and I regret NOTHING. June was extremely enjoyable. Bless (also: we probably need more, broader communities like my precious inner circles 💝 )

Huh?

(Anonymous) 2023-07-01 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love to reply to this, because I've had fun conversations about Genshin here in the past, but I have no idea what you're trying to say happened.

You asked ... someone? Hoyolab itself? ... about pride flags (what about them? Whether there was anyplace in-game to get such things??), and people ... presumably other users? ... replied with rudeness and obscenities? And then you noped out and found yourself wondering if you should have done something differently.

Maybe, but there's too much confusion in the secret for me to get more than the vaguest idea of what it's trying to say. Hope the OP will turn up and clarify. Or if someone else can figure out what they meant, great.

This secret is impressively difficult to make sense of.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Since I can't make heads or tails out of the secret text, can someone tell me if the background is someone's actual idea of what a pride flag is supposed to look like, and if so, what the black and white parts are supposed to be about?

Also, I'm pretty sure Genshin Impact did exactly nothing for Pride, and compared to the amount of companies that think they can cozy up to gays by throwing money at a once-a-year event, I am here for it. I don't need video games (or most things) to express opinions on my sexual orientation. When bricks-and-mortar businesses posted a sticker in their window to express "if someone tries to give you grief in here for being gay or holding hands with your partner, we'll kick them out instead of blaming you for the disturbance" that meant something I could appreciate. But most of it has become empty performance, IMO.

Mihoyo is based in China, so even if they wanted to do something for pride, they'd get shot down by censorship laws in a heartbeat.

I'm honestly glad when companies don't do anything for Pride Month, because it's almost always just a grift. (Except for when local companies/branches sponsor pride events, I'm fine with Bank of America having a couple of ad banners in the parade in exchange for the parade having enough money to function.)

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
+1, most big companies doing Pride is bullshit. I mean, it's nice that there's pinkwashing these days compared to "shut up and/or get fired", but in most cases the support is not even skin deep. Even a "we donate $10 to a local charity" is more than most do when they slap rainbows on everything in June.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
This is honestly an abysmally sad way to look at it. Everything is about money to corporations. Does Target care that you need shoes to protect your feet? No! They don't give a shit about your basic food and clothing needs! Do they sell shoes because it makes money? Of course! We are not exempt from capitalism by virtue of being queer, so I'd rather support businesses that want my queer money as much as they want anyone's straight money than ones that don't.

And if you really don't like it, I hope you stick to not buying anything from those corporations at any time of year, not just during Pride Month. Because the latter is indistinguishable from a homophobe boycotting them for that month because of their icky gay shit.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding this. A big business being visibly in support of queer people and their basic human rights does not count for nothing.

People who think that big, popular companies visibly supporting Pride have no impact and count for nothing, simply because they're motivations are not purely altruistic, are either cynical to the point of stupidity, or they're too young to remember when hardly any businesses were doing it yet.

That obviously doesn't mean these businesses are exemplary allies to the queer community and they do no wrong. It just means that them taking a visible stance is an incrementally beneficial act in and of itself.

Hoyoverse leeches the straights and the gays equally all year round and we are here for it.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-02 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Equal opportunity leeching lmao

This secret is like the Mirror Universe version of the field fires of my youth.

Yeah, I knew it reminded me of something.
