Or maybe they just don't want to read about vaginas in their m/m smutfic, and would appreciate a label letting them know that that this fic isn't going to be their cuppa.

Which is fine, and not really going against anything ayrt said. They didn’t say that you have to want to read vaginas in your m/m smutfic, or that there shouldn’t be labels. At least, they didn’t say it in the specific comment you responded to.

They were just pointing out that it’s transphobic to call it het when it’s sex between two men, just because one happens to have a vagina. Because he’s still a man. The couple of two men isn’t suddenly straight because of the genitalia of one of the men not being a penis. There is an ingrained misconception in society that “vagina=women” and that’s very likely where calling it het when it isn’t comes from. Besides transphobia, even unintentional transphobia.
