Re: Musical Question

Little Shop of Horrors, but the comedy offsets the darkness, and the movie has a much happier ending than the stage show.

Oklahoma feels like a cheerful musical, but there are very dark events/themes in it. Check out Schuler Hensley's portrayal of Jud Fry, he's amazing.

Pretty much everyone in Les Miserables dies, but it has a hopeful ending overall.

The stage version of Little Shop of Horrors is distinctly nastier and darker than the movie, and I think they both work well - but the person who posted this question definitely wants the stage show.
