Yeah, mostly the same. I am rarely focus on OTP. I like the world, I want more world building to read. Fandoms do not deliver

I'm the same, used to be a big shipper and have become much more interested in genfic. I don't know why, I think I prefer exploring the settings at this time and focusing only on a romantic relationship feels limiting. I wonder if I'll get back into shipping someday?

I switch between both views. Sometimes all I care about is one character and want everything to be character based (sometimes pairing based), other times I just want world building and all of the characters interacting and telling stories within that wide world.

I would like to be like you! For some reason mind either becomes obsessed with one ship or I'm not interested in the fandom at all (even if I like the canon still). And I can't ship the people in the ship with other characters because it feels like cheating. Have always been jealous of people who can just write and read about a whole cast indiscriminately!

I'm the same way. I'm in fandom for my OTPs, period. I don't even have that many of them; only one main one at any given time, plus a few secondary ones. I've been in fandom for about twenty years now, and I'm still just as much of an OTP diehard as I always was.

In my case I mostly like it, though. I wouldn't trade the years of galaxy brain obsession I feel for my OTPs for any other kind of fandom experience, honestly. The only thing I wish I could change is that when I inevitably move on from a main OTP, I wish that OTP just became one of my secondary OTPs, rather than what actually happens, which is that the OTP becomes like a well run dry; I can't connect to it anymore. That part makes me sad.

idk if it's age, hormones, or both, but I've gone from the OTPest person that only saw easy pairing switching in Saiyuki fandom to being entirely unable to even read my own old shipping fic where people make moony eyes and whisper sweet nothings. am I turning aromantic for some reason? I'm not sure I like it.

There are tons of things I like where I don't participate in fandom. Most things really. But shipping is so easy to find a fandom for so on the "outside" it probably looks like all I do.

I still ship, but I had to back away from fandom myself after getting deep into it during COVID. Fans were arguing way too much about petty things, including shipping, and I'm just too busy and tired to really give that time or space in my life.
