I always see people complaining about it 'not being tagged' but I've never come across this. If someone's written trans fic in my fandoms, it's tagged, if I missed the tag when scrolling and clicked on the fic that's on me for the 'surprise'. And this has happened to me several times, it was tagged, I just didn't read the tags properly. I didn't however throw a pissy-fit and act like the author was out to get me, I either read it or didn't and carried on with my day. It's really not a big deal.

And if someone was doing this in my fandoms and I wasn't into it I'd just filter their username out. Simple. Easy. Requires little effort.

It happens often enough that people notice and complain about it. Just because you personally haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. There was a certain trend a while ago to intentionally not tag it to basically ~teach people a lesson~ which the authors freely admitted in the end notes so yeah, some of those authors were specifically out to "get" people.

And those authors sound like dicks but that doesn't make them representative of the entire group writing a topic no matter how many people in this secret thread are tying to frame it that way. Trans fic writers aren't a monolith, they aren't having secret meetings about how to piss ya'll off, they're individuals in their respective fandoms writing what they want. The fact that some of them might be dicks is just a sad reality of people more than anything else.

If I ever see a writer doing this I'll block them/filter them out because I wouldn't want to give them attention, but so far I haven't and the trans fic writers I have talked with personally have been nice and just doing their own thing. This fact isn't negated because there are some assholes in the group.
