Can't relate. For me, a character can only represent themselves, and it's the same with ships. If people declare their love for it in ways I don't want to be around, I will just write and ship it without interacting with them.

Conversely, shippers for a certain pairing can be the loveliest people in the world. It will not convince me that their pairing or fave is for me when everything about the characters puts me off. The way I feel about other fans is separate from how I feel about canon. Through and through.

Anything else feels like it's blaming one person/thing for the failings of something else that they've got zero control over.
