Enid Blyton's boarding school books are directly responsible for me wanting to go to go boarding school when I was a kid in the 80s. Especially the naughtiest girl ones, and mallory towers. I think I started St Clares but was at the age where I switched to mysteries (trixie beldon, three investigators etc) so didn't finish them.

I never read The naughtiest girl (I don't think they translated these in my country at the time or at least they weren't nearly as popular as the others) and really didn't like Mallory Towers much but yeah, I had my "I want to go to boarding school" phase as well because of St Clare's.
