I'm seeking comfort so I'll look for these books. Thanks!

Enid Blyton's boarding school books are directly responsible for me wanting to go to go boarding school when I was a kid in the 80s. Especially the naughtiest girl ones, and mallory towers. I think I started St Clares but was at the age where I switched to mysteries (trixie beldon, three investigators etc) so didn't finish them.

I never read The naughtiest girl (I don't think they translated these in my country at the time or at least they weren't nearly as popular as the others) and really didn't like Mallory Towers much but yeah, I had my "I want to go to boarding school" phase as well because of St Clare's.

If it helps any, Pamela Cox was able to fill in the missing years/forms, and they're pretty much canon to the series now. Her Third Year at St Clares book is the strongest entry in what is, IMO, Blyton's weakest boarding school series, so I'd recommend it on that basis alone.

I thought Cox didn't even remotely bother to keep the characters in character and did not at all hit the right vibe. I tried listening to the audio book versions of her fill ins but the contrast was jarring.
Also, ngl, having those years filled makes the time mess up worse lol

I think St.Clare's is much better than Mallory Towers, personally, because the characters are much more likeable. There is some of the adult/society-sanctioned bullying as well in St.Clare's but it's so, so much worse in Mallory Towers and a lot of the girls are just plain unpleasant.
