I'll enjoy and appreciate a story well enough even if I don't get a ship out of it, I like stories! but admit that my engagement with the show will be considerably low in comparison to something where I do have a ship or there is a world I can engage with or insert myself into, so I get it.

I feel a bit guilty about it because there are definitely stories that get ruined when the writers try too hard to make it something that would make a fandom, but sadly it's because fandoms are one of the few ways things survive nowadays...

Also, yeah, It's not even that I get frustrated with canon romances, but I also prefer my ships remaining non-canon.
