It's unfortunate because I have seen that person in the comic. He is all over the internet. He has multiplied, and is legion.

That's reminding me of a one-panel comic I saw one time that had a bunch of adults sitting on the metro, all simultaneously having the thought, "I am the only real person here, and I am surrounded by unthinking sheeple."

You can look at that and be struck by what solipsistic asses they are. But you can also go, "wow ... the zeitgeist of the first world right now is disillusionment and exhaustion and a loneliness so acute that trying to feel for each other seems impossible. People look at other people and think of zombies, enemies, and problems, because they've lost all faith in each other."

Coincidentally, that comic (XKCD) is popular with a lot of the same people who think SMBC is insightful.
