Things you loved as a kid but hate now

Inspired by secret 5. What are things you loved as a kid that you really don't like now. Or maybe that you refuse to rewatch/reread now because you know you'd hate it.

Most comedies, especially parodies. I tend to find them more cringy than funny nowadays.

Cringe comedy. I used to love cringe comedy, now I just feel the cringe but without the comedy.

DA, but I remember being really into Candid Camera, and now videos where people don't know they're being filmed for a prank are my WORST squick. I cannot watch them, I just cringe so bad.

The Dark Crystal

Not hate, but I don't love it the way I used to. I watched that movie so much as a kid and loved it so much. I just tried to watch it recently after not having seen it forever and I was so sad with how boring I found it. I kept zoning out or getting distracted. The magic was gone :(

Weirdly I'm on the opposite end, I hated that movie as a kid and then watched it on Netflix many years later as an adult and actually really liked it. I'm still mad they cancelled the series, it was excellent.

"Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" type shows. I loved them as a kid - seeing this whole other magical world of mansions and swimming pools and luxury. Now I just seethe at income and wealth disparity and hate all the waste.

I love the art and hate the waste.

I'm a stupid paradox.

Yachts are marginally better, but they can pollute a lot, so I'm meh on them too.

There are so many things I loved as a kid that are just completely creepy to me now. Zoobilee Zoo being a prime example.

Pokemon. Like, I don't hate HATE it - but I definitely loved it more as a kid than now. At most, I like the Team Rocket memes and that's about it. Otherwise I could not care less.

Archie comics. Little kid me didn't really notice how dumb and sexist they were.

Same. I remember once I read one of the more serious stories they had sometimes, it was about how Big Moose had dyslexia, but it was immediately followed it with a short comic where the joke was how dumb Moose is, and that sort of started me thinking... I still read them for a while longer, though.

I wanted a pogo stick so bad and I got one for my birthday when I was, like, eleven, I think. I could stay on for, at most, five hops (usually two). I was not a coordinated child in any way (not really that coordinated an adult either, but I do keep my balance better now). Thinking about it now, it doesn't really seem like I had much fun at all, I have no idea why kid!me thought that was a good idea.

Tom Green

I've gotten a few shorts of his old content back in the late 90s-early 2000s on Mtv and I just...cringe seeing the stuff I was watching back when I was a tween.
