(Anonymous) 2023-07-26 12:01 am (UTC)(link)Ok, so I looked into it some more and it's called Keitai input. Each number represents a consonant of katakana (the gojuon grid) and pressing the number again moves through the vowels.
So, like pressing 2 three times would get you C in English, in Japan it would go through KA, KI, KU and you would get the katakana KU. Four times would get KE, followed by KO.
