hair coloring fail

(Anonymous) 2023-07-26 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Guys, I got my hair colored all over the first time today. It wasn't the usual person who does my highlightz, it was a guy I haven't worked with much before. I asked for red and he did his best but it ended up coming out very purple! Normally my hair is a dark brown but I've had red highlights in the past that were very striking but also gelled with my base color.

Now I've got this kind of purple-red hair (it's like Ariel's but with more blue in it.) There's nothing wrong with this kind of hair but I do prefer darker tones. I'm back from the salon and wondering what to do about it. My office dress code says that they're okay with colored hair so I shouldn't have problems there but I was happier with something darker! I'm not very upset or anything (I mostly think its hilarious and I'm ready to see Barbie tomorrow!) but this is the first time I've done an all-over color before so I'm at a loss! What should I do to fix this?

Well, you could try another salon all-over color on top of it. Maybe a deep red, with orange-y tones to counter the blue. Or you could try one that's close to your usual color, though probably a shade darker, since it's going on a brighter color. Or you could have the salon go for lowlights with a dark brown color. They might want to do some extra conditioning before and/or after any more dye.

AYRT This sounds like the way to go, I'll have to look at Pinterest and see what sort of hair colors might work.

Not sure because I am no hair coloring pro myself but shouldn't those temporary hair dyes (like shampoos) be able to darken the color until it fades?

AYRT I will do some research to see if this might work but it runs the risk of bad color combos. Fingers crossed!
