:O

DEAR HUSBAND, IS THAT YOU??

[identity profile] geekfreak03.livejournal.com 2009-06-19 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL I LOVED ENTERPRISE
I THOUGHT IT WAS A FUN SEXY TIME
WELL, MAYBE I DIDN'T THINK THAT, SEEING AS I WAS 11-14, BUT REWATCHING IT NOW I SEE THAT IT WAS JUST A FUN SEXY TIME

I GREW UP WATCHING TOS, TNG, DS9, AND VOY, AND LOL I LOVED ENTERPRISE
THERE'S NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF

It's been that long? Wow, doesn't seem it most of the time.

And though it wasn't my fave Trek, I did like it. I miss Trip and Reed and Phlox and T'Pol and Hoshi and all of them. 'Cept Archer when he's a prat.

It is my favorite of the series, and I am damned proud. Watching it on SciFi right now, as a matter of fact. I loved all the seasons. Enterprise was the most accessible, most realistic of any Trek. And the cast was smokin' hot!

ilu, OP

[identity profile] ugerchucker.livejournal.com 2009-06-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought that first season was really good and one day I'll get the second season.

...I also read a lot of Enterprise fanfiction.

I loved Enterprise and people whose only grounds for disliking it are "canon" (which is almost all of them) are the people Nimoy was talking to Reuters about. (Take what Nimoy said on SNL and imagine how he'd phrase it differently if he were talking to Reuters, and you've pretty much got it.)

I still read fic. Although weirdly, I didn't care that much for the series itself. Still, Trip/Reed for the win.

165. I love Brother Bear! I wouldn't call it Disney's best, but it is a really good movie, and it really is ridiculously underrated. More people should go watch it.

134: Well I can't say that I'm really all that much of a fan of Angel's Gwen (though I can't tell how much is b/c of the writers and how much is b/c of the actors), but I agree the rise of the BNP in those elections (and other similar parties) was scary, and Merlin ftw! :D (I think that's as good a reason as any! ;))

I got four books into Harry Potter before I decided his emo-ness wasn't worth it.

I got to the last film of the Matrix and wanted to bash my head in for wasting ten bucks on it.

I have seen only one hour of all six Star Wars movies collectively and I'm fine with that.

I got 30 pages into LoTR before my sleeping drool made the page illegible.

Honestly, if you wanted to talk about real lasting legacies in movies and (western) culture, Greek mythology and the Bible stand out as the most overused and repeated ideas. I somehow doubt there will be a hype about the Matrix even 50 years from now.

127, 148, 153

[identity profile] slylilgoblin.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
127. Okay, a leeetle random, but have you seen the trailer for the movie 9? Not Nine (which is a crazy looking musical starring Daniel Day-Lewis), but 9. From what I can tell, that's pretty much the plot, except all the humans are dead and it's these tiny little dolls against giant scary robot monsters. It looks. SO SICK.

148. I agree! The Rocky experience obviously can't be beat, but I only just saw the movie outside of a theater, and was kind of shocked at how much better ST was. I don't know, it's just kind of more fun! Rocky itself, without an audience yelling things, is... meh.

153. YES. I love the music, but I thought the story was immature and half-baked, and the book was really weak. THANK YOU. I always feel guilty and like a snob when I say this :(

[identity profile] map-to-my-heart.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I love this movie soo much!! It's beautiful and adorable!!

You aren't alone, OP. While I really enjoyed both films, Brother Bear was the one that really spoke to me. I liked seeing Disney go back to some things they hadn't touched on in a while: the coming of age story, and animals playing a starring role.

Also, animal totems and transformation play a large role in my life, and I appreciated seeing those ideas on the big screen. The plot was simple on the surface, but I remember actually crying at the plot twist where it turned out that Kenai had killed Koda's mother. It truly is one of the worst things to realize that your ignorance in the past has somehow hurt someone you care about. More than anything I liked that at the end, Kenai stayed a Bear. To often in movies where the hero is transformed does he come to terms with it, only to reject it in the end.

Oh yeah, the soundtrack was way better in my opinion. Transformation has an honored place on my playlist :)

No hard feelings to Finding Nemo, though. It's a movie I can watch again and again. I suppose the reason I'm not more fond of it is that I have some deep rooted daddy issues that lessened the emotional impact of the plot. Still, that's personal and doesn't stop me from enjoying a great film.
