That show is the gayest thing Cartoon Network has ever put out, in the best of best possible ways.

Heh, I knew this was coming. Look, they're friends. That's it. Yes it's extremely cheesy, but it's not "omg their in love!" Unless you want to ignore the fact that they're both straight, and countless episodes have shown this (May I have this Ed, anyone?)

If any character is canonically slash it'd be Jimmy (His pirate gear in that movie, LOL)

Since when? A find a number of my platonic friends sexually attractive. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Barring that, loving someone romantically =/= not being friends with them. Most of my ships come from friendships, including het, slash, and femmeslash. I couldn't care less if a violate the oh-so-sacred idea of fictional bromance.

The BROMANCE in that movie is as good subtext as any.

They have a beautiful friendship and I adore it, but loving someone and BEING in love with someone are two different things :p

Countless episodes have shown that they like girls. Or at least really like Naz.

I have little doubt that canonically, the show would never go for any of them being gay or bisexual. No big deal at all, though it's a bit of a shame that that can be said for certain just because it's an American children's cartoon, shown on a channel like the Cartoon Network.

Odds are really, really good that NO pairing will ever be canonical besides the unrequited crushes. Which is cool, because the show doesn't really center around relationships or romance or dating or other teen drama stuff. But all this means is that, canonically, all that is shown is that they have interest in girls, or at least a girl, and crush on her hard.

Canonically, they're just friends. That's all that they are in the show; that's all any of the characters are in the show, and no one in it is anywhere canonically gay or bi, either. But that's okay, because this is just fandom, and it's easy to see where the pairing comes from -- doesn't make the pairing any less non-canon, but it does make it easier to work with (... sometimes. for some people >_>).

I don't think anyone's trying to say that Eddy and Edd are a canonical pairing, or that they actually have feelings for each other in the series. But in fandom, it's not a huge leap to make. There are pairings out there that are a lot more random and less explicable. But even for them, who cares? It's all for fun, and it's not harming anyone or anything.

Guy, I still don't.

I love fan art of them, but when I watch the show, it's a bit hard for me to see them like that. But I can see WHY people look at them like that. And there are some episodes that are quite... teehee. ♥

I personally think that some of the people who deny that the subtext on this show exists do it because they think the characters are "ugly". Hell, I know that's true, because the same people seem to find slash in much less suggestive situations, where the shows have "better design".

Or some people who do slash them refuse to accept the Edd/Nazz Eddy/Nazz subtext.

Is that subtext, or just text? It is a plotpoint in several episodes. In any case, I see no reason why both varieties of subtext or what you might call them can't coexist.

LOLOLOL I love how this has turned into a ranting thread talking about slash instead of the originally intended 'slash goggles'. Didn't the secret mean something more along the lines of "oh, I can see why people would ship them/believe they're slashable" instead of "hey, I've begun to ship them too!"?

That said, HAHAHA THAT'S GAY. Um, the picture and the show.

I never really shipped them before that movie (because it was a big part of my childhood and I didn't want that raped ha), but afterBig Picture Show I totally do. :| It's... always been obvious but now I just go with it, haha.
