I don't think OP is "not having fun" but rather that they have more fun doing something else, which I don't think is necessarily a thing they must tell their partner.

Part of being an adult in a relationship is compromising and doing something that's okay but not your ideal that your partner enjoys, too.

Totally agree on your second paragraph. And sometimes the fun comes from the enjoyment your partner gets! It's just not the vibe I got from the secret, but I hope I just misread.

Although I definitely would want my partner to feel comfortable telling me things like "my fave is when I get to play solo, but I like when we get to play together too" or something.

If it's a skill issue I can see why OP might not wanna tell their partner they prefer to play with better players though, lol. But I assumed they're doing that on their own time since they didn't mention wanting to stop playing with their partner or anything.

Hopefully it's just the former thing being awkward to say
