ayrt I should have capitalised Neighbourhood House. This is in Australia. They run short courses during school term time, but for adults (mostly.) Hobbies, low-level trade qualifications, computer skills, vaccinations, legal aid, that sort of thing. It's a community hub. I go to writing groups and have taught very short courses on solar cooking at NHs.

The same sort of thing happens in the UK, where the classes run mostly in the evening and are (or were) called evening classes. I learned falconry at evening classes, among other things.

They good for social interaction for people who aren't good at social interaction!

That sounds like a wonderful place! There is a similar business in my city but all the "community classes" are quite expensive so I've never been.

Wow sounds amazing, and yes there’s an approximate equivalent of that where I live (but not as cool) which I thought of answering as well.
