5 things

[personal profile] philstar22 2023-07-29 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
If you could only watch/read/play 5 sets of things (series, etc.) forever, what 5 would you pick.

Mine:

1. Tolkien
2. Star Wars
3. Doctor Who
4. Babylon 5
5. Sanderson's Cosmere

1. Sonic
2. Puppet History
3. Story of Seasons
4. Animal Crossing
5. Buzzfeed Unsolved

Puppet History anon.

How are you enjoying Shane and Ryan's new Watcher ghost series? I don't think it has the same crazy as Unsolved because Ryan has gotten braver. :(

it definitely doesn’t have the same feel as Unsolved in either case (True Crime/Supernatural) which makes me a little disappointed, and I miss baby faced Ryan :(, but I fully understand their need to take it in a different more creative direction.

I, however, did NOT appreciate the dummy puppet jump scare. it’s like my worst phobia

1. Good Mythical Morning
2. The Lion King
3. Animal Crossing
4. MCU just because there are so many
5. House of Leaves. Took my over a year to read the first time. I can see if I can beat that.

Good Mythical Morning is so fun. I love them. And MCU would be on my top 10 list.

This is so difficult, but maybe:

1. Dance Dance Revolution
2. Maple Story (or some other Korean MMO like that)

And honorable mentions to my favorite manga, my favorite drama CD series and my favorite BL novel, all of which I seem to be the only fan on the English speaking internet so maybe out myself by sharing the titles.

I miss DDR so much! I played the heck out of that and would absolutely love to still be stomping away at it. I wish it would make a comeback.

AYRT - Same and I picked DDR just because I can’t imagine myself not having some stomping fun! My latest mat took a while to arrive from China but it is so worth it.

This is so hard! Off the top of my head I've got:

1. The Tillerman cycle
2. Valdemar verse
3. Zelda
4. Muppets

And then I hit decision paralysis.

Ooooo, Valdemar. I love Valdemar.

Definitely Tolkien, definitely Star Trek, definitely Doctor Who. Those are the things I've been fans of since forever, and they're massive sprawling franchises, so it just makes sense.

Past that... maybe Discworld? I think Discworld has some of the books I could reread the most times without getting tired of them. And then for the last choice... can I choose all of Naoki Urasawa's manga as a group? Because I love them but they're also incredibly dense and long and this might be the only way I'd ever finish all of them.

SA

Oh shit, no, get rid of Discworld and do Ghibli instead

Re: 5 things

None. And I am serious. I would rather kill myself than subject myself to 5 things forever. Even if I love them. Even though I am on re-watch right now. I like revisiting favorite stuff KNOWING that I can choose to watch/read/listen new things. Starting to hate my favorite show because it's the only show that is? It's hell

That's certainly a unique take.

no, it isn't, I feel the same way.

Re: 5 things

(Anonymous) 2023-07-30 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? I don't think it's that unusual to prefer wide variety of stories. I have favorites. I actually love a good story that is even better on (third) re-watch. But my brain isn't wired to find comfort and joy in stories that do not bring me anything new.

Re: 5 things

(Anonymous) 2023-07-30 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I reasoned that I'd probably get another hobby and not only rewatch and replay stuff all the time.
Like, drawing or playing board games etc. There are a lot of stuff you can do without consuming media content.
...I think? Idk I'm maybe overthinking this. Lol

AYRT
I would probably take different hobbies too. But still I would likely drop all media all together. I just know that this 5 titles would taunt me instead of bringing comfort. So none media for me. But board games ftw!

Re: 5 things

(Anonymous) 2023-07-30 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Shakespeare
2. Sofia Coppola creations
3. Tolkien
4. Guillermo del Toro creations
5. Any and all iterations of Cinderella

1. Junji Ito's entire collection of manga (love the style. Rereading it regularly since the early 2000 and never getting tired of it)
2. Law & Order franchise (which is enormous and I rewatch it regularly as it is)
3. Mass Effect saga (long gameplay with different choices to make, aha! I still have to play Andromeda, too!)
4. Dragon Age saga (same as above. I replayed Origins 7 times already and I'm not getting tired of it anytime soon)
5. Lovecraft's stories (useful for creating RPG campaigns and getting inspiration for my spooky drawings and stories)

With this list I would probably only really miss touching other horror manga... Maybe I could cheat and insert also comics and manga that retell Lovecraftian stories... Maybe...
