No, anon, no one actually hates any female characters! Women certainly don't! People here have NEVER seen that. Ever. It's all just a radfem plot to turn young, impressionable girls into ideologues.

Nah. Having to deal with inappropriate, underhanded men tends to put women on friendly terms with feminism. Convoluted tricks are not needed.

The joke "I became a feminist as an alternative to becoming a masochist" is really as relevant as ever.

You think you're being sarcastic, but it's basically true. There has been absolutely no evidence of disproportionate dislike for female characters in female-dominated fandom spaces since the early 2000's. Assertions that everyone hates female characters and uncritically loves male characters (as if any mention of a Kylo Ren or Loki doesn't quickly become rife with fighting over whether or not he's a horrible toxic male that nobody should like) are simply not true.

It really depends on the fandom space. I've definitely been in some that disproportionately hated female characters and then other ones that loved them.

You are. incredibly. naive.

Oh honey no, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It very much does, female fans are just throwing progressive terminology on their misogynistic complaining rather than flat out calling them bitches these days, but it's still very much A Thing.

They must not have seen the torrent of hate that Pepper Potts and Sharon Carter got in MCU fandom or the way most of Star Wars fandom acted about Rose Tico.

Although I must say that a lot of the hate gets directed at real women in fandom, which is not really an improvement. Fandom's misogyny problem is as bad as ever and in some ways I think it's gotten worse.

No evidence...except all the people saying they've seen it, that it's happened in their fandoms. You're asking us not to believe what we've experienced and seen with our own eyes.

I've been asked to do that in discussions about zoos, so yeah, I'd say that's in effect here. And it's honestly not a tactic that lacks merit. There is something useful about being able to provide receipts along with first person testimony to make a stronger case.
