queenslayerbee: Isabelle Adjany as Lucy Harker in 1979's "Nosferatu the Vampire". She's surrounded by darkness, looking over her shoulder while she wears a white nightgown and a cross as a necklace. A hand with long nails like a claw is reaching for her neck from the darkness behind her. (Default)

As someone who's read very little omegaverse, despite being in fandom for a long time, I can tell you that I probably wouldn't ascribe any particular meaning to your using the word "slick" in relation to sex? Even if you did say it out loud. Sex is often wet and sweaty and messy. Just mentioning, in case that helps with passing one thing off as something else, should you ever need to. Or just with having less to worry about.

As someone who's read zero omegaverse, I have no idea what it's even supposed to mean or why it would be inappropriate during sex. Is it supposed to be a code word for someone coming or something? Lube making things slick? Not sure what would be wrong with it. Or maybe I'm missing something, IDK.

in the m/m omegaverse, at least, it's the term used for when omega males self-lubricate. Which is a VERY accurate word to describe a guy with a vagina who self-lubricates, and definitely plenty of trans guys remain very wet even on T. It's just... using it as a noun rather than an adjective that might be telling, I think.

Interesting that you find A/B/O where omegas are worried about birth control. All the a/b/o I've come across, the omegas are enthusiastic about getting pregnant and having as many babies as possible....

Not OP - but I feel like it really differs from fandom to fandom. That and it depends what you're looking for - like in my cast I definitely seek a lot of hurt/comfort or angst with a happy ending, and those tags can bring up stories about birth control or fear of pregnancy for the ~angst~ - but once again, depends on the fandom and the fics you look for.

It def depends on the fandom, yeah-- and it also depends on the part of the story, you know? There are a LOT of fics where the omega wants a big family *someday* but is in a place where they can't get pregnant YET-- in one fandom, he's an adult who just needs safety/security/to settle down with The One and he's good to go, but in another fandom the character is just out of high school and isn't remotely ready, but still wants to have sex.

I don't mind even as a child-free reader, because both cases are characters who canonically do want a big family-- the first is an 'adopt anyone who isn't nailed down' type who loses his only biological kid and helps raise others at different points and who has a lot of complicated feelings about becoming his own mother. The second case again canonically wants a big family, just... when he's more of a real adult who doesn't live in his parents' house.

My condolences.

Are you me OP? I'm a trans guy too and lol honestly I feel the same way. There's been some good ABO fics that aren't too porny that I absolutely love while feeling a bit more relatable to me in a way. The only more explicit ones that I make an exception to read are the ones where there's an emotional roller coaster involved throughout because I'm an absolute sucker for hurt/comfort.

OP here

LOVE that hurt/comfort, YEAH. Love when there's a nuanced exploration of gender and gendered expectation. I will eat it up with a spoon EVERY time there's a tough guy with scars and body hair and a uterus who's going THROUGH it.
