OP (Thank you secret maker for making the secret)
To be clear, I do think any colour combination that vaguely fits the "white as snow, black as ebony, red as blood" description would have worked - a very dark skinned black woman with white hair would have been just fine as well.
The main thing is: Sure, the basis of this is kind of a weird beauty standard thing. But that's basically the whole damn plot of Snow White - the whole story hinges on some jealous woman wanting to kill her stepdaughter for being prettier than her. So if a story that is primarily about beauty standards and the creepy lengths some women go to for being prettier than others offends you so much, maybe Snow White is not the fairytale to adapt.

But isn't the fairy tale specific about skin being white, hair being black and lips being red? That's how I remembered it, but admittedly it's been a while.

Yes, but if you want to tweak it a little, just switching the colours around would be a much smaller change than just going on to say "lol nah fuck all of it".
