What you're describing for what Disney is going to do sounds hilariously terrible. But I would kind of love your take on what Snow White should be like, because I suspect the version I heard left out most of the cool stuff, too.

I just remember it as a dopey story about a queen who tried to kill her daughter and didn't quite manage to. I literally have to think for a sec to disentangle the apple-poisoned sleep part from the resolution of Sleeping Beauty. So, if there was ever a worthwhile story in there, I missed out.

Disney's Snow White was an art and animation project. What plot there was merely existed to serve the animation. It's an extremely simple story because the story was never the point, and AYRT would be better off looking at other film adaptations if their concern really is about ~muh expressionism~

I really would recommend watching the original Disney Snow White. The animation is stunning.

The 90s Disney Renaissance codified how these stories are supposed to go. And this was 60 years prior. So the musical numbers are just for fun or exposition. The Prince exists solely to let us know Snow will be taken care of. The singing is (I forget the term) a style that's long sense gone out of favor. The Evil Queen's lair is is gorgeous.

When it first came out it was rated 16+ in the UK.

It isn't perfect but it is a fascinating little cultural artifact and a beautiful piece of art.
