(Anonymous) 2023-08-04 03:37 am (UTC)(link)Christ. They're going to have a scene where SW and the Prince meet beforehand and she explicitly tells him she wants to be kissed while asleep. Or something. One of the dwarves will have a rap solo. SW will teach the dwarves to clean instead of getting help from animal companions. No one will demand the severed heart of a little girl -_-
What even is the point?!?!?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)I just remember it as a dopey story about a queen who tried to kill her daughter and didn't quite manage to. I literally have to think for a sec to disentangle the apple-poisoned sleep part from the resolution of Sleeping Beauty. So, if there was ever a worthwhile story in there, I missed out.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-04 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)I really would recommend watching the original Disney Snow White. The animation is stunning.
The 90s Disney Renaissance codified how these stories are supposed to go. And this was 60 years prior. So the musical numbers are just for fun or exposition. The Prince exists solely to let us know Snow will be taken care of. The singing is (I forget the term) a style that's long sense gone out of favor. The Evil Queen's lair is is gorgeous.
When it first came out it was rated 16+ in the UK.
It isn't perfect but it is a fascinating little cultural artifact and a beautiful piece of art.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-04 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)OK. There are two twists I'm interested in:
1-full horror. The huntsman *does* cut out her heart but she survives as an undead. The queen is brutally punished. The forest is just Like That all the time. The Dwarves arnt evil but their morality just different than humans and they are scary. The Queen disguising herself is a scene of pure body horror.
2- True Loves Kiss is its own curse. You don't have to truly love someone for the kiss to magically heal them, it's if you kiss someone who is under that curse the real sacrifice you're making is your own free will. Now you love this person with all your heart, sorry if you had a spouse and kids at home, this over writes that!
