Seems like the Arknights fandom struggles with the same evil as the Genshin Impact one: boring players.

Having a whole ranged class' gimmick be completely nullified by the most basic of mechanics, deployment order, does make them feel extremely limited. You really have to work to find places to uses them, and it doesn't help that the most usable one is the 5 star who comes with 5 star deficiencies (aka, weak stats and less skill choice.) Poor Carnelian can't even tank when using her skill because she loses all her defense, and since her big damage is backloaded, she can't even tear the enemy apart before they kill her. You need someone else to support her or take that damage for her which just negates the whole reason to use her over a traditional caster.

...I mostly agree with you about boring players though, which is why I exclusively play/watch Nicheknights players. Highly recommend picking a niche you like and just following that, makes the game much more fun than just meta meta meta.

I am completely outside AK fandom, I just have 1 artist friend who retweets all the hot daddy dragons fanarts, and that's it. so it's amusing to read secrets like this. ngl I always suspected I'm "doing it wrong", on lvl80~ I have only completed one annihilation mission and still can't get through the Patriot boss in the main story (I probably have the needed operators and DPS, but I'm so used to my faves I'm too lazy to lvl up and use anyone else instead haha). I'm also like, not into all the technical stuff, I'm a casual player who likes their hot animal men and cute animal girls, and solving the maps ofc, but like, not to absolute perfection ig?
but yea, speak of the boring, I love vanguard DPSes (Scavenger my beloved!!♥♥), especially Bagpipe, imo she does better than a lot of guards in some cases, AND brings DP with it! love her! ♥ also my fav type of operators is non-ranged class operators being ranged, mostly defenders with ranged attack, I absolutely adoooore them, I don't really care about the stats, I just love them being pew-pew while holding a giant shield haha (Blitz, this is for you ♥).
also lmao, I know team Rainbow operators are probably not op at all and are not even close in the meta, but you will rip Ash and Tachanka only from my dead bloody hands lmao.
