What really gets me is when they stop posting updates but go on as usual making art and mini-comics of their webcomic and sharing every piece of fanart they get, without any acknowledgment of the fact that they haven't been updating the comic itself.

hard YES to all of this!
I follow some of the artists so I can excuse anyone who aknowledges hiatuses and explains the reason, at least on their blogs/twitters (Meek comes to mind, hoo-boi this comic managed to have the worst webcomic luck), but purely abandoned ones just make me sad. obviously Helvetica and Monsterhead won't update probably ever, one abandoned in 2017, the other's whole site disappearing, but it'd be nice to have it confirmed, you know.

I wish the narrative ones (not slice-of-life) would have planned arcs and endings and not just stagger on indefinitely until the artist realizes that it's been 50 episodes since there was any plot or stakes and that maybe they should wrap things up... and then the last five episodes are some random-ass "twist" out of nowhere.

Lol I've been the web comic artist that has essentially done this.
In my case I genuinely intended to update and had been in the middle of creating a long awaited update when my laptop went kaput. I only had an ancient tablet to keep up with emails/work stuff and couldn't get a hold of anything functional for at least a year. Then by the time I got everything set up, I just didn't feel like continuing it any more.

I mean, you're already on DW and DWRP exists. Lots of people are either returning to it or finding it new after leaving tumblr/twitter pits of toxicity, you'll be in good company.

*gestures broadly at our cube* ... okay that is a lot less alive than it could be because the flame of constant activity died down since we made it and we never managed to attract new members, but it is a forum with roleplaying on it and we try to be welcoming to new members.

... and while I don't recommend going to TV Tropes specifically for roleplay, they do have a roleplay section in their forums and people do tend to be reasonably active. So that's an option if you're already into vigilante taxonomy.

I mean, if it was your fault that she stopped writing, then it seems like she was relying solely on you for support/validation, that's not super healthy. I have a friend who occasionally proofreads fics for me, and if one day she said she was out, I wouldn't stop writing/posting fanfic altogether.

What online games do you play? All-time favorites? Looking forward to any?

Question partly inspired by the Arknights secret, partly inspired by the fact that I have been wanting to get into an online game that *isn't* gacha but VERY out of the loop.

The only online game I still play is Genshin Impact and the occasional rhythm game but I was addicted to Korean MMORPGs growing up. I liked the era before they went 3D and I don't like LoL so Genshin Impact is the closest I can get to the feeling of nostalgia.

Been thinking of playing Black Desert Online but it looks difficult. Hoping Blue Protocol doesn't suck because I want to try and get into it.
