Heya. Not going to keep hanging around in this thread reading what people replied to you, because they seem exceptionally unreasonable and awful.

Just commenting because I think you're making an entirely valid point and all the petty whispers about being 'the wrong kind of person' if you get into fandom while very underage or remain here too long past teenagerhood are mean-spirited as fuck. Don't let them get you down, anon. There's lots of us that love the writing and the company of people who are old enough to have been in fandom for a long, long time.

And yeah - the posturing about its being somehow bad to stay in fandoms that aren't bringing out new products every year is just another way to keep people on the treadmill of paying for the latest crap. When there are mountains of good books and good movies and there's actually nothing anyone can do about your enjoying them. So, let the miserable keep being as unhinged as they (apparently) are, and I hope you carry on with the stories that make your heart sing.
