SAME about the pan. I don't even like eggs/omelette particularly much but I really want a tamagoyaki pan. And one of those small tempura pots for deep frying even though I rarely deep fry stuff. Speaking of which - dear lord does she deep fry a LOT of food. Out of the bentos in one week, at least 3-4 have deep fried food...

Call me cynical, but I don't believe all the people complaining about this would flock to the movie theater to watch a film about the displaced people of Los Alamos. I think they like to virtue signal about it, though.

I feel you, OP. My first fandom, a long time ago, was a soap opera fandom. I don't tell many people that was my first fandom because of the judgment. It was a lot of fun though, and I miss it too. The craziest stuff happens on soap operas, which really lets you go crazy in fic too.

If it were about the people of Los Alamos, you'd probably have some of them saying it's a travesty for focusing on Americans rather than on the impact the bomb had on the Japanese.

I just think they think "media criticism" means "identifying the ways in which this piece perpetuates systems of oppression." I don't necessarily blame them, because you really can get the impression that that's what you're supposed to do to be a serious viewer/reader/etc.

I guess the question I would ask is, do you foresee ever commenting on or reblogging the same post as any of them? If you do, then be aware that blocking someone makes it so that they can't participate in any comment chain that you're in. That's the only real downside.

If you don't think that's ever gonna happen, though, then don't worry about it. Like you said, you're curating your experience, and in this case not blocking them makes it hard to find what you're looking for, which sort of defeats the purpose of tags.

Hard same. I'm participating less and less as time goes on, because I'm honestly just not understanding my fellow fans.

It's sad, but hey, maybe things will swing back in the other direction at some point down the line.

Soap operas aren't my thing, but I'm glad you had fun OP. There's no 'correct' kind of media to be into fandom-wise and honestly, if I could get past the way soap operas are structured(they're meant to work the way they do, I just don't jive with it) they do look like they're a lot of fun to engage with and I bet chatting about them with other fans is also really fun.

Because in the end that's all that matters. :)
