DA I was a teen in the early and mid 90s and my experience was very similar to yours. There were always exceptions, usually someone who was very immature for their age so at 14-16 they didn’t fit into the crowd or 18-19 did fit. Friend groups may have been narrower in range but a lot times they weren’t. My group stuck together for about seven years total so two years after my graduation we had a few in our group who were freshmen in high school. That group kinda rolled over through life stages and most of us who are still living are still in touch with some having extremely close friendships still.
