dda, also a teen in the late 90s and yeah, it was the same here. From about age 14-17 everyone just sort of hung out together and there was no real age distinction because you were all in high school. No one thought it was weird for a freshman to be friends with a senior or anything like that.

It would be considered kind of weird for high schoolers and college students to be hanging out together, but otherwise, everyone just sort of grouped together regardless of age.
