NA - I was a teen in the early to mid 00's and we tended to have friend groups that were mostly within our grade. There were people one year younger or one year older, but they were the minority. I think the smokers and the tokers tended to have a broader age range, for the obvious reason that what made them a group was a shared hangout spot--namely, the spot where they were able to smoke and/or toke without getting in trouble.

All that said, I still don't personally feel squicked or concerned about a 14yo and a 16yo dating. Like yeah, it could be a toxic relationship, or evolve into a toxic relationship, but so could any relationship.
