Eternals was the first MCU movie since Avengers1 that I actually looked up fanfic for. And so far also the last.

I really liked the movie and the characters and I'm sad too that everyone else seems to hate it. Though I do think it would've been better as a tv show.

If they'd made Ikarus the good guy instead of the bitch, then the movie would have performed a lot better. And cut back on the meta jokes, cut way fucking back. Especially the one about Superman.

Yes to the meta jokes. but I liked Ikarus being a villain.

I liked Jupiter Ascending because it was ridiculous, goofy fun.

I found Eternals boring as fuck with a cast about as charismatic as wet cardboard. Maybe it would have worked as a series and given them more time to build up the characters, but as it was I just didn't care for it at all.

It had too many characters in it, it was a DC type movie. You know how they tried to speedrun a Justice League movie? Well this was Marvel trying to speedrun an Avengers type team up with the same end of the world stakes. If they wanted Eternals to be a thing, they ought to have Phase Oned the whole team building thing.

+1

This. I didn't hate The Eternals. It was just very boring and none of the cast had the necessary charisma to carry it.

I don't know anything about Eternals and will probably not look it up, but I just lived Jupiter Ascending. It was one of those movies where I wiggled with glee over every insane, fabulous plot twist, includ9ng Channing Tatum flying around looking like an airborne Bobby Orr. I loved that movie. I need to find it on DVD for those dark days of winter when I desperately need sparkly fun. I don't know why I haven't already done it

Was there a plotline in Jupiter Ascending?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-20 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
It was less a plot line than a plothypotrochoid, but it was there.

Jupiter Ascending was full of pretty people camping it up: ridiculous and fun. Eternals was full of pretty people standing around against pretty backgrounds: boring as fuck.
