Which country are you from, OP?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-20 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Australia. And not to doxx myself, but the nearest city is a 28 hour drive away from mine, and getting to the US would take me 22 hours on a plane (not including stopovers).

It wasn't my intention to imply that America is super easy to get around, but... it's definitely easier than getting anywhere from where I live! There are other places in the world, guys! You actually do have it pretty damn good in terms of con accessibility/frequency and shipping prices! And Australia is far from the least convenient place to be a fan in.

So google tells me Aus is 78.72% the size of the US. Yeah guys, I know it's hard to drive across a big country! Maybe it's even a little bit More difficult when that country is way less populated, most people live in the 4-5 major cities, and not many events are hosted here.

Not to mention when the middle of that country can reach 50c temperatures in summer.

Australian anon here who is on OP's side, but in all fairness that's how hot desert California can get.

The desert in Arizona and New Mexico can come close to that, too.

I'm in Aus too, and I feel your pain. Thankfully I'm not quite as far away from a city, but if I want to fly anywhere I do have to drive to another town.

The postage is an absolute killer though. I always used to use surface mail, which took longer but was cheaper, until Covid came along.

Also from Aus, and as I was reading all the replies from the US (and before I read yours), I was definitely like 'cry more, USians, try driving several days to still only get to buttfuck, no where'.

The timezone stuff is super frustrating as well. So hard to make friends when you either have to commit to staying up all night or all your replies are 17 hours late.
