I don't know, I always assumed that most of, say, the tubers of WhatCulture mispronounced American names and places due to a combination of being from the UK and many of them not being the writer of the listicle they are presenting.

The 'not writing their own lists' thing certainly doesn't help, but Josh Brown writes a larger portion of his lists than most of the presenters and is by far the worst for mispronunciations, at least of the Gaming and Horror channels. (The ones I follow.)
