I don't know if I've just read too many fanfics with OOC Obi-Wan, but I see where you're coming from.

I'm not in the Star Wars fandom. I grew up with the original trilogy and watched Phantom Menace and then I was out. I came out of PM thinking that Obi Wan had to be the chosen one and that Qui Gon was blinded by his biases.

So, I don't go here but I agree.

I like the theory of him being the Chosen One, but I also like how it turned out in canon, where being the Chosen One wound up not meaning much and Anakin could have ignored it his entire life if he wanted to.

But yes, absolutely agreed on Obi-Wan being the Platonic Ideal of a Jedi.

I do think he's the Jedi ideal. But I don't think he's the chosen one. Chosen one was specifically about saving the universe. Whether that was Anakin, Luke, or Rey (or all three), it definitely wasn't Obi-Wan.

He guided them

Absolutely. I'd even say he might have been the most important character in the SW universe. Just not the chosen one.

I always kind of wondered if it was kind of like each generation had its own sort of chosen one but in a self-fulling prophecy kind of way. Depending on the person and what they choose to do is how it affected the rest of the universe.

Obi-Wan thought his life would be full of infinite sadness and was but he was someone who held tightly to the light and had alot of meaningful contact with other major characters. Anakin grew up hearing of his potential while being groomed by the Sith and raised by the Jedi; yet he still made the choices he did. Then comes Luke and then Rey, etc etc.
