Absolutely. It plays into how risk-averse online culture has become in general and it seeps into the real world. Audiences are happy with the state of things (remakes and reboots) and it was always a minority that wanted original content.

My only experience with booktuber is Merphy Napier. I do think she's pretty nuanced in her reviews, though I'm not a patreon or on discord (if she even has a discord), so I don't know what she's like in live discussions.

Back in the height of Homestuck fandom, I was part of a private group that mostly did erotic roleplaying. We all were very good at respecting boundaries and keeping IC and OOC separate. Most of us identified as women.

Then a bunch of male fans found the group, and suddenly I was getting unsolicited dick pics, intrusive questions, and requests to rp sex "as ourselves rather than as our characters."

So the horse cock futa artist might very well have a point.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think a lot of people like the idea of something fresh and original, but whether or not they (and many others) actually spend money to consume it in the theaters is a separate issue. Predictable and comforting media is far less of a gamble.

I was gonna ask the same thing. I don't follow the live action myseld but last I heard things seemed to go well and the people I know who are into ATLA were all cautiously optimistic. Did something happens since this year's Netflix Tudum?
