Well... it used to. Its now getting to a point where that's starting to be less the case for reboots (although largely due to the fact that going to the cinema has been getting more expensive in recent years).

That and studios have been utter ass with advertising their own releases - which has been more the case with Disney's own new and reboot films (although one theory on that seems to be that its because Disney wants people to watch their movies on their own streaming service).
