(Anonymous) 2023-08-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)That being said, I was one of those kids raised with the whole tooth fairy/santa/etc - but when I found out the truth as I got older, I just accepted 'Oh it was just pretend, ok' and carried on. I don't think I've ever met anyone who did get upset finding out the truth growing up (just one kid who got upset finding out that everyone but him got money for losing their baby teeth) - but I'm from the UK, so I don't know if its a cultural difference or just how .
On one hand I did enjoy the fun of it and maybe some parents want to share that sense of whimsy with their kids - but of course there's the lying aspect; and there's no guarantee that the child in question will get upset or not when they do learn the truth until it happens. So IDk.
