Omfg, OP, I agree so hard with this. And they set it up so well in Ragnarok! I thought for sure that was the direction they were going, and then...no. :(

Oh well. I suppose that's what fic is for.

Interesting. I actually adore their friendship and was so so so so happy they let a m/f friendship stand on its own. I genuinely don't see much romantic chemistry between them either, but I know I read things like that differently so ymmv.

Yes! I would have loved to see this… the dynamics between Valkyrie and Bruce, Valkyrie and Hulk, and then Valkyrie and Professor Hulk.

I wasn’t particularly pleased with Professor Hulk, but she could have pushed it into a more interesting angle.

Off to investigate whether there’s any fic exploring this…

Yeah but folks aren't saying they're not into het. They're saying "there's no chemistry." Those are different sentiments.

Maybe they just don't see romantic chemistry between Thor and Valkyrie. Romantic chemistry is subjective and very much in the eye of the beholder.

I don't think that's the case at all. Romantic and sexual chemistry are very much expressed through physical and social cues.

My impression from reading through this thread is that people here think "chemistry" is "people who would logically fit together according to the things that I find interesting." It's no wonder that a decent chunk of people in this space identify as asexual, as that is an incredibly asexual way to parse "chemistry."

It isn't bad to be asexual. An asexual person is just going to have a harder time seeing and understanding sexual chemistry than a sexual person is.

It's not really any different from a straight person not "getting" a same-sex romance, or a gay person not "getting" a het one.

Sorry, but as anon above said, chemistry of any kind is extremely subjective, especially in fictional characters.

Lol I admit they had amazing bro or BFF chemistry! But not a lick of romantic or sexual chemistry for me.

I have never, in my life, done that with someone I Just Have Friend Chemistry with.

I haven’t made a point of rewatching the last two Thor movies and I really don’t know what your referring to. I can completely believe it flew right by me, I’d just like to know where to look for it on a rewatch.

The one I'm describing happens after they each jump back up into the ship after navigating their way out of the asshole.

DA - The (blink and you'll miss it) moment you're talking about felt so out of the blue to me that I literally was confused as to what they were meant to be uncomfortable about. It was only on my second watch that I was like, "Wait, was- was that supposed to be sexual tension? Oh god, it was, wasn't it. JFC, how perfunctory can you get? Why are the writers so bad at this?"

Same here. I walked out of Ragnarok accidentally shipping her and Loki.

I couldn't agree more. It kind of did seem like the writers were thinking about pairing them up, because of that one brief moment in Ragnarok where they're ~uncomfortable~ at having accidentally been in close physical proximity. But that moment felt extremely out of the blue to me, and IMO it didn't remotely gel with the very fun dynamic they seemed to have up to that point. So I'm really glad TPTB didn't persist in shoehorning in a romance between them.

Lol, Jane/Thor is my MCU otp actually. I think they’re super charming together. But I wouldn’t have minded Valkyrie/either Thor. Or Valkyrie/both Thors.
