Nothing is wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with not liking a Joss Whedon product, especially his last two crap shows. There is nothing wrong with not thinking that his bowel movements are a work of genius.

THIS! Because the movie really was one big disappointment. It's like they tried to make a Firefly movie, only without any of the stuff that made the show great :/

Not everyone thinks that, he's so overrated and I laugh when people talk about how he is a feminist, he's a misogynist asshole.

I can relate. I've never liked anything Joss Whedon has done. I've never even seen Serenity(because I didn't like Firefly). I don't get the worship at all. And I really wish people would stop telling me that I would like Firefly because I've seen it, and I don't.

I hate it too. Even though I still like River...

Hmm, well correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't a LOT of Firefly fans super pissed off at that movie? I really liked parts of it, but certain events near the end (hint hint) really ruined the whole thing for me.

I've just gone and decided that the movie isn't canon.

It doesn't exist in my 'verse and it never will.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of Firefly fans were pissed about it. Whedon did the exact same thing Lynch did with Twin Peaks - he made a movie after the cancellation, and all the fans expected those little teasing plot lines to be nicely sewn up, but instead he came up with some entirely unrelated storyline and we all felt cheated.

I think he should have just made the rest of season one. :(

I can't tell my best friend I've still never seen more than the first episode of Dollhouse for exactly this reason.

You're not alone. I didn't hate it utterly, but I really just didn't like it. It felt like it took all the heart and family and Western-theme and everything that made Firefly stand out, and...missed. FF was a western with sci-fi elements. Serenity was a sci-fi with Western elements. Even the music was different.

A lot of that is because instead of meandering and building stuff up, he had to rush and tell the core of the story. But honestly, I never really cared much about the details of River's condition, and none of the reveals struck me as particularly surprising.

I've never "gotten" Joss Whedon. The closes I've come is with Dr. Horrible though, strangely enough.

I am neutral on Joss Whedon, but may I just say that "the sun shines out of his ass" made me LOL IRL?

That's how I feel about Dollhouse.

And forgot to add last of Angel. But Dollhouse bothers me more cause all my friends love it.

I'm sure you've noticed from the other comments, but you're not alone on that one. I loved Firefly but I'm almost glad it got canceled before it could really suck, and while Serenity was pretty enjoyable, it wasn't great. (Don't even get me started on Dollhouse.)

nothing's wrong with you. I dug it, but I can see where the disappointment comes from - pretty much anything Joss does is extremely hit-or-miss.

Aside from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I haven't liked anything Joss Whedon has done. And I'm not exactly a huge Buffy fan, either. I've just liked the random episodes my friends have shown me.

I think a lot of fans probably just had a whole heck of a lot of expectations for that movie. I watched both Firefly and Serenity on dvd (and, thus, without any waiting inbetween) and I prefered the movie to most of the series. :shrug:

You are so, so not alone. My entire family WORSHIP Whedon. Uh, no.

Well, to be perfectly honest with you, I DO think the the sun shines out of his ass ;-) I LOVE every last thing he has done. But the weird thing is, I haven't liked ANYTHING of his at first. I only got into Buffy because it was the only thing on (for two hours straight!) every day when I got home from school. I thought Angel was utter *fail* at first but kept with it because of Buffy guest stars and David B's yum-factor.

I was initially very disappointed with Firefly but stuck it out because I had paid $40 the box set. Then, after months of pyching myself out for the movie, I was once again let down as hell. But I went to see it again, and then again...and I liked it a little bit better each time I saw it. Now I have seen it like 50 times and I adore it. So yeah, I probably sound like just another Whedon-zombie to you...but I really do believe that his stuff just takes some getting used to because it is original and subtle. Just my 50 cents.

Well, I thought even Firefly was horrible. I did watch Serenity first so maybe that fucked things up for me. The entire time I was like, "wtf?" because all my friends were creaming their panties about it and I was very disappointed. I don't remember it clearly because I saw it when it came out, but it seemed like some sort of rubbish throw away script of a crappy syndicated sci-fi that had never made it to air. The whole thing was so horribly cliche and reminded me of a shitty version of Equilibrium (which wasn't all that well thought out in itself) that I was amazed that this was what passed as science fiction to some people.

I hate Whedon.

I've never been a hardcore Joss fan- especially not with this Dollhouse crap, what the hell. But Firefly will remain my favorite television series for as long as I have the boxset. It was beyond wonderful and I cried when I found out they canceled it.

When they announced Serenity I was stoked. I felt like all those unanswered questions would be tied up in a nice, dark-humorous package. Instead we got some half-assed script and plot, and even though the characters were still as loveable as ever, they seemed sort of... OOC, which is weird to say simply because they're Joss'.

I hated Serenity. It damn near ruined Firefly for me because it was so bad. Admittedly, I cried at the major points of the movie (SPOILER STUFF HERE), but it was less because of what happened and more because of what happened? Meant there was no hope for anymore of the show. Not that there was in the first place, but I clung to that little glimmer for as long as I could.

In the end though, it's like Joss just got tired of the show and flushed it. Firefly was amazing, and I think a large majority of people who feel the same also feel that Serenity was a major, major disappointment.

I will say this for the movie: "Guy killed me Mal. Killed me with a sword. How weird is that?!" is a line I quote all the time.
