Hmm, well correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't a LOT of Firefly fans super pissed off at that movie? I really liked parts of it, but certain events near the end (hint hint) really ruined the whole thing for me.

I've just gone and decided that the movie isn't canon.

It doesn't exist in my 'verse and it never will.

Wash was the main reason I got suckered into Firefly after all dammit.

Yeah, it kind of takes the series and tears it a new hole. Not just Wash's death either...there were so MANY deaths and serious, life-altering changes for the characters all at once. It just got way too heavy for me.

Mal actually being a 'mean old man' in the movie, when he wasn't (that much) in the show also pissed me off.
The feel of the movie was so dark and negative in a way the series never was, even in the darker eps.
And also, yeah, the gratuitous deaths.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of Firefly fans were pissed about it. Whedon did the exact same thing Lynch did with Twin Peaks - he made a movie after the cancellation, and all the fans expected those little teasing plot lines to be nicely sewn up, but instead he came up with some entirely unrelated storyline and we all felt cheated.

I think he should have just made the rest of season one. :(
