Re: The gripe thread!
(Anonymous) 2023-08-25 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)My family has subscribed to a vegan meal service where they send you the ingredients and recipes and you cook the meals. At first I was happy, because there are plenty of places on earth that feature vegetarian or vegan foods (China, India, Israel, Greece, etc.), and I was excited to hopefully try these recipes and foods. But its been really disappointing as most of the meals aren't anything specific like, say, biryani or even a simple stir fry, they're a weird hodge-podge of random stuff that just feels thrown together and called a meal. Like tofu with collards and zucchini, with toasted almonds on top. And don't get me started on vegan "dairy" like cheese made from cashews or sour cream made from who knows what. I can't tell you anything specific about what I've actually eaten, because it all blends together into one mediocre unhappy meal. It's just not very good, is all, and I'm disappointed with the lack of actual recipes (yes tofu with collards and zucchini with toasted almonds follows a recipe, I was expecting more like aloo gobi I guess). Anyway. Wah.
