Yeah, same. I'm never more scared during a horror movie than the instant of a jump scare, but it's just way too much, too intense--like being electrocuted with fright.

That's not to say I think jump scares are excellent story-telling. They can be good if handled deftly, but are more often used like a cheat code to make the movie scarier. I'm generally with OP on wishing for fewer jump scares; I just can't relate to the idea that they're not scary. Just because they're a cheap scare doesn't mean they're not scary.
