Nah. People have good reasons to delete their fics and not everything needs to be preserved. You're not entitled to other people's labor.

If people view writing fanfic as "labor," then they shouldn't be doing it.

I hate this trend of saying that anything that takes any kind of effort at all, anything that isn't just sitting around on your ass, is "labor." Labor has a goddamned meaning, and it isn't "doing a hobby."

Okay Karen

Okay misogynist.

Damn straight! If there's not a baby when you're done, it wasn't labor.

You're joking, right?

DA

noun
1. productive activity, especially for the sake of economic gain.
4. physical or mental work, especially of a hard or fatiguing kind; toil.

If you think the first definition proves your point, look at the wording, including the 'especially' means that it's not exclusively for the sake of economic gain.

So no hobbies ever are supposed to take effort or be considered labor? That's quite a take.

There are people put a shit ton of effort into things like writing, art, performance, etc. Just because it takes a lot of effort doesn't make it not a hobby, and just because it's something they enjoy too doesn't mean it isn't work.

Have you never heard the phrase "labor of love" you absolute shit?

Writing is work and I'm sick of people like you who enjoy the work of artists and writers while devaluing and dismissing them . I love writing more than fucking life itself but it is work

It is work it is labor because I put my passion and my my blood sweat and tears into my writing as many others do.

How dare you say that someone shouldn't be writing bc they say it is a labor, it is /takes work . It is a labor of the mind.

If you can't acknowledge that the fic you enjoy from others takes work, you frankly shouldn't be reading it. Don't disrespect the artists and creators of things you enjoy and dismiss their efforts.

If you're not entitled to other people's labor, then you're 1000 times that not entitled to other people's fun hobby art they do for fun.

The point of that phrase btw is not that fanfic is labor. The point is that if you pay people for their work as capitalist wage labor, then you kind of *are* entitled to it. If you buy someone's Kindle book and then Amazon deletes it from your Kindle I am 100% on their side.

But if you aren't paying someone for it, and they haven't agreed to do it in exchange for your pay, then you aren't entitled to it at all.
