dude i hate JKR and don't buy official merch but... can we please stop conflating liking a story with agreeing wholeheartedly with the author? There's a good subset of people who will decry the author's bigotry at any chance and criticize them but can't just fking turn off liking a thing when the author acts like a shit.

I've always enjoyed dark characters that are redeemed. But i prefer when they have to work for redemption and not just have it handed to them. I expect there are other characters that would work but I have only seen the movies (and not since they first came out).

I also like hurt/comfort and he looks like the type that fic writers would love to put through the ringer.

Sharing with a few caveats-- I'm not in HP fandom and found this story while searching the Blind Character tag. I read the first few chapters as they were posted and thought they had a lot of potential, then got distracted with other stuff and "Marked for Later" and unfortunately forgot about it until I saw your request.

I see it's been on hiatus for almost a year, but otherwise it seems to fit the bill of what you're looking for!
