Yeah usually I can accept that the heroes in these shows can just maintain employment in spite of running off to handle emergencies all the time because the more realistic but less interesting alternative is none of them ever have jobs, but "pediatric intern who not only has a hobby but is professionally competitive in it" is orders of magnitude more of a buy-in

I've watched a show there main group of characters were medical interns and somehow they had time to deal with supernatural shit, have active sex life and couple of characters played in a band. That was the last straw in my suspension of disbelief. Just no
